Safe Harbors Ann Street Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of Mythology, with an artist reception on Saturday, April 8, from
6:30-8:30 pm. This event is free and open to the public.

Throughout history, mythology has been an inspirational source for great art and literature. In this exhibition, we find a select group of artists from across the country and abroad, who are united by a shared interest in the timeless appeal of classical myths, the imaginative nature of storytelling and visual fantasy.

Included in Mythology, are paintings, sculptures, large-scale textiles, works on paper and site-specific installations. The works address each artist’s personal interpretation of traditional mythology with a unique perspective, while exploring a broad range of motifs such as: ritual, religion, war, mysticism, heroism, the divine, and identity.

Here within the gallery space, audiences can enjoy these contemporary visual reinterpretations of mythical themed works, while familiarizing themselves with tales that inform our understanding of constructed belief systems and help facilitate a greater appreciation of our cultural differences.

Featured artists: Brandin Barón, George Bedell, Biserka, Andrea Burgay, Kimberly Callas, Naomi Campbell, Samuel Rios Cuevas, Peter J. Ketchum, Jeffrey Klinger, Dave Kube, Rob Millard Mendez, Keith Plummer, Ailsa Read, Tammy Salzl, Dinah Sargeant, Kathleen Shaver, Alison Stinely, Kerry R. Thompson,
